2013 Oscar Fashion

It’s officially the day after my personal fashion superbowl and I am left feeling tired, a tad underwhelmed, and again wondering why I watched the entire broadcast of the 2013 Academy Awards! Oh right, I stayed up to watch the amazing Argo win best picture and Ben Affleck’s heartfelt & nervous acceptance. It was a great moment for him!

Speaking of great moments, only a few celebs had them on the red carpet. The rest, in my opinion, went from safe to boring to disastrous! I decided, again, to be nice and only post my best dressed picks of the evening!

So here they are!

Dee’s Best Dressed

Honorable Mention:  Samantha Barks in Valentino

#3 Best Dressed: Jessica Chastain in Custom Giorgio Armani

Best Dressed #2: Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture

Best Dressed #1: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture

I really wanted to have color somewhere in my top 3 but it just wasn’t happening. The most gorgeous dresses that were impeccably styled just happened to also be white, ivory, and golden nude! I thought all 3 ladies stood out from the rest down to every last detail. Jewelry, hair, makeup, and plain poise were spot on!

Who were your favorites!

Much Love,

Dee

Golden Globes Fashion 2013

Well it’s my favorite time of year again…Award Season! I thought I would change things up a bit for this years Golden Globes and talk about the color trends. Of course there were some looks that were underwhelming but I will take a page out of Lady GaGa’s book and remain judgement free today!

Black is BACK. Of course in my wardrobe black is always a go-to and a staple. As far as the red carpet goes, it was nice to see a variety of gorgeous gowns in black with some phenomenal details. Here are just a few of my favorites!

Rachel Weisz in Louis Vuitton

Nicole Kidman in Alexander McQueen

Julianne Moore in Tom Ford

Kristen Wiig in Michael Kors

Angelic Nudes. Those who know me can attest to my love of white and nude year round. I love this look and it always shines and sparkles on the red carpet. Kerry Washington was my BEST DRESSED of the night!

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu

Anne Hathaway in Chanel Haute Couture

Isla Fisher in Reem Acra

Hayden Panettiere in Roberto Cavalli

Kristen Bell in Jenny Packham

And last but not least COLOR! There were so many gorgeous dresses this year! Even though most of my favorites were in neutrals…I have to give a shout out to the amazing gowns in rich saturated warm coral, red, and wine.

Jessica Alba in Oscar de la Renta

Claire Danes in Versace

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture

Naomi Watts in Zac Posen

I always love seeing the fashion and trends on the red carpet. Another huge trend I noticed was the hair! The look of the night was definitely deep side parts with retro curls. I absolutely adore this look! It is dressy but a little bit relaxed. I will be trying this out for the Spring weddings we have on our agenda!

What were your favorite looks?

Trends to Try!

There are so many fun trends to try out this season and inspiration is all around us! We always see the amazing fall fashion at Market, then opening boxes (it really is like Christmas!), and finally on the streets.

I love seeing everything come to life and how fashion trends affect interior design trends, wedding trends, and of course even baby & kid trends!

Here are my favorite trends this fall and some of what we currently have at Camden!

First: The Navajo Print

I LOVE this. It has such a great vibe for the colder weather and makes me think of a warm fire, leather couches, and wool sweaters. Wearing this print always looks edgy and fun!

Lani Tunic, Gypsy 05 $156

Second: Chevron

Chevron is SO HOT right now and we can see this trend across so many genres. It is popping up on furniture, bedding, rugs, jewelry design, baby onsies, and so much more! This trend is a PERFECT escape from the stripe. I love it for it’s vintage appeal but also how modern it can look when done well.

Malik Cardigan, Goddis $208

Third: Paisley

Paisley has gone from HOT to NOT so quickly over the years. I have to admit…I have worn it one year and loathed it the next. For some reason, it never has had much staying power like the floral or stripe, until now. The paisley prints happening now are classic and chic and as Peaches and Herb would say “reunited…and it feels so good!”

Paisley Dress, Beth Bowley $289

Finally: Mad Men

THANK YOU Mad Men for bringing back gorgeous ladylike fashion. I am in love with the longer hemlines and feminine silhouettes. THIS is how women should be dressing…at least sometimes!

We just got back from Spring Market and these feminine shapes are here to stay. Pick up a dress for your holiday parties and then for your Spring weddings. It is the epitome of glamour and class.

2012 Emmy Fashion

Well it’s my favorite time of year…award season! I love watching to see all the amazing fashion and couture gowns I can only dream of wearing. I have to admit I was underwhelmed over this years Emmy fashion. I kept a running list of “Best” and “Worst” and the “worst” column kept filling up while the “best” remained a tiny select few. So here they are…my best and worst!

OK WORST.

#3. Amy Poehler in Stella McCartney – NO! This is ill-fitting and un-flattering in so many ways! No.

#2. Martha Pimpton in Christian Siriano – OK I actually sort of like this dress…but for some reason I think it just doesn’t work for Martha. She could look a lot better in my opinion and the whole Spanish vibe just isn’t working!

#3. Ashley Judd in Carolina Herrera – There really are no words for this one! Completely dated and the hair is just out of control.

BEST! BEST! BEST!

#3. Kat Dennings in J Mendel – I know her cleavage is Christina Hendricks worthy BUT she really looks stunning and her hair and makeup is perfection.

#2. Tina Fey in Vivienne Westwood – I had to put Tina on here because, to me, she has never looked more spectacular.

#1. Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhullier – Amazing from head to toe. Of course I always love the gowns that are a little unique from the rest. Not only was it unique it was styled perfectly and her shoes are to DIE for!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Check out all the amazing new fall fashion on our website!

Music & Fashion

With Pitchfork wrapped up and Lolla just around the corner…I thought it was time for another Festival Fashion blog! For those of you that want to say to me…”a concert is not a fashion show!”…well I beg to differ! Music and fashion go together like peanut butter and jelly. In fact, music ignites fashion and fashion can bring music to another level. Art is expression and fashion is such a personal way to express who you are!

Personally, I love the chicks that do festival style in an easy going, natural way. They don’t look like they are trying too hard and they have a cool, feminine, rocker vibe that I can only attempt to emulate. Kate Moss is the queen of festival fashion of course but here are some other looks that I think are perfection!

Much Love,

Dee

Perfectly Pastel

Pastels have never looked more fresh or modern! I am especially loving the peaches and minty greens! So lovely and feminine…yet with the right shapes and accessories you can still create an edgier look.

Here is some of my latest street style inspiration! Enjoy!

Much Love,

Dee

1 dress. 3 ways.

One of my absolute FAVE pieces that has come in the store recently is this fab crochet dress by French Connection. The Main reason I love this dress is because it is unbelievably versatile. Liz and I played with some different ways to style it…and trust me there were many more!

Dress: French Connection $268

First things first. The basics. This is the easy way out… classic shift dress, neutral heels, and fun “fanny” pack. Easy for day or night this summer.

Purse: Zambos & Siega $96 Jewelry: Kendra Scott necklace $67 bangles: $89

Next..we added the denim shirt, belted it, and threw the extra large tote in the mix. I LOVE this look… Lizzie looks Boho Chic with a total model at Coachella vibe!

Shirt: Bella Dahl $128 Belt: Moss Mills $135 bag: Zambos & Siega $156

And Last but DEFINITELY not least… the denim look. I shifted the dress up a tad and put the same belt (it’s adjustable!) on her hips and added an even bigger tote in a monochromatic shade. It’s true this dress can bonus as a tunic with your skinnies or leggings!

Jeans: Habitual $189 Bag: Zambos & Siega $175

All of these items are in stock now! We always have so much fun playing with different looks and this dress provided endless opportunities and don’t you just love getting a little bang for your buck?

Much Love,

Dee

Shades of Grey

So color is in…but you just aren’t going there this season? Grey is still such a lovely neutral to wear all year long… step out of the box with some grey skinny jeans or definitely try it out on your next manicure! I love grey…to be honest I wear it a little too often! I always think of casual elegance when I see grey. It is soft and easy to wear. Things I am kind of dying for right now… the silver crochet TOMS and the DVF Pewter Clutch! And can you believe it…silver shoes are back and so IN right now!

The Ecru tank and Donni Charm Wing Scarf in store and online now!

Have a happy Easter!
Much Love,
Dee
